i hit sandy hook for about 2 hours saturday. skunked except for the biggest skate of my life snagged on a bomber! saw tons of bait guys out there everyone i talked to had the skunk as well. beautiful day though

Is the rip/false hook open yet. it was closed because of dredging the last few weeks

i like sandy hook becasue of the anxiety free parking. as fishing spots go i like it further down.

Fished for an hour this morning, taps only, but couldn't hook up.

Foggy
Outgoing
Calm water
Clams

The truth is the fishing was pretty bad there last year...not even trying to be sarcastic. A few banner days but nothing to cheer about.

The beach structure was horrible in most places and in others the fish were almost non existent. When they do show the rangers shut down most of the beaches for the plovers.......

and now that the tip is off limits for most of the spring I will be putting the $50 towards gas money as I drive a little further south.

The problem with the Hook is that the best fishing takes place at the same time those damned beach chickens show up and the park service closes all the best areas.

Most stupid thing ever.
People on foot down by the waterline in no way disturb the birds. I've had them following me around checking where i walked to see if I kicked up anything tasty.

Last year was the first in a long long time that i didn't get the permit - probably won't again this year as well.
Have to wonder if this is some kind of long term attrition plan by the antis - if so it's working. mad.gif
