Wind is always a factor in Oklahoma. I spend about two hours a day, three days a week practicing my casting over the grass. I use the magnetic cast control on the Shuttle to compensate for wind direction and wind speed. I use 15 pound test line with a shock leader for distance on the Shuttle and go to 25 pound line on the 757. I also use a clip down rig to help with wind resistance. I usually use a 5 ounce weight because of the swift current. I bought a Century Kompressor WR300 to try for more distance but I am having an issue with breaking off with the 50 pound shock leader. I will continue trying to learn on my own since they aren't many (any) casting instructors in Oklahoma. Being 6-feet and 265 pounds also help with the wind.
