IMG_9162.JPG 1359k .JPG file Was wondering if anyone had ANY info (good or bad) about this surf rod I bought at an estate sale. I have seen many garcia rod but none like this and couldn't find any info on it.

Garcia "Sniper" Striper Rod
11'6"
Heavy Action
2-5 oz
12-30 line
Made in USA

Model #7373

What made this rod stand out from the rest was the stripe design it has on the black and solid black reel seat and wrappings.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.wink.gif

I see this rod in my 1980 and 1981 Garcia catalogs, 6 rods in the series all grey, various lengths and line and lure specs, made for 2 years, never actually held one in my hands though. old school type rod

Nice,, I have a bunch of new Garcia Rods and Reels from the Old North Jersey Plant that shut down years ago and this is the first time that I saw that one.. It does stand out and I like the name of it.. Good Find...

It makes total sense that it was made between 80-81 because the company was still the "Garcia" Tackle Company...it didn't become "Abu" Garcia until Appox 1984........That explains why the rod has "Garcia" on the label instead of Abu Garcia, Garcia Conolon, etc.

Yeah the name and look stuck out for me too....it's definitely different.

Thanks the info.........it was very helpful.

The Garcia company products were unbeatable from 1947 to about 1982, i lived in Nj at that time and i often visited the Teneck location the Hasbrook Hieghts location and the Fairfield location. In the late 40's and early 50's they were in NYC. This Company put fishing tackle on the map, and believe me i have no affiliation with them other than i own many of thier products. They marketed the best equipment from the USA ,Europe ,and Asia.
