If the thread is your's and the last post is your's you can edit your post. Insert at the beginning : "Please close" and that will show up in the box opposite the thread title so everyone can see that it's closed without having to go thru the whole thread.
By editing your last post it won't send the "closed" thread back to the top thereby not cluttering the list of available stuff.

Problem is you aren't suppose to be editing your opening post. I know guys do it but you aren't suppose to unless you really have to.
Also we don't read every thread, so the chances of us seeing that its closed and can be locked would greatly improve if the last post said "thread closed" which means if you edit your opening post we probably won't see it.

Here is my response to what I didn't like. Am I right or wrong on this?
"Not Cool Yougster! You accepted an offer of $35 from BassAsssasin on 2/27/12 which re-establishes the price at $35. Then for whatever reason that deal fell through. You re-open the thread and didn't state the price was back to $40, therefore the price was at the last accepted offer of $35. I agreed to the $35 price and another person comes along and offers you at asking. So you dis'd me and are selling to the other guy at the higher price. I didn't think this was an auction site.
Good Luck and have a nice day!
Pete"
