Leatherface
What do you guys use? I have heard 3/4" plywood, 2x12, store bought heavy duty plastic ones. I was thinking of just cutting a 12" piece of 2x12 and using that. Any other ideas? Former LIBBA #1818
oldgoat
I like plywood. Won't split. I have kept 2or 3 12"x24" behind the seat(pu) and found that by being able to grab them as soon as I get out of the cab that I saved a truck from the surf because of fast action with the tide comeing in. Boards are cheaper than trucks
Grimlock11
I use "3/4 double up'd togther with liquid nails. Size is roughly 12 x 24. I can easily leave it in the back of the truck underneath a blanket. I keep it in the truck came in handy once when I had a flat on the side of the road. Just remember it's there, one time the bored was inside a folded blanket and I pulled the blanket out and the board hit me in the head.
Budrow
I bought a pressure treated 2X12X10' and cut 12" lengths. I put one on top of another with the grains crossed and screwed them together (in the 4 corners and one in the center) with deck screws. I use them to put my camper on during the winter and keep them in my truck when traveling.
Longgone
I carry 4 2x10 boards cut 18in. Use them for jack boards & to park the truck camper on when on the beach.
lisurfer523
2x6 1 piece at 3 feet. Never had to use it but would assume that it would be fine. the longer 2x6 wont crack as easily as a shorter 2x12 "If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." Chief2
I use a 18"x18" 3/4" board. I do know that both SSP, and IBSP require specific sizes of jack boards. IBSP required minimum of 12"x12" plywood, however, what, IMO is more important, it does not specify the thickness. The reason mine is 18x18, is because I made a box for the rear of my truck, to hold the plugs, and the small side was 18x18, so it fits exactly the same size as the box, only need 3/4" extra space. Leatherface
Thanks a lot guys! Not sure what I am going to go with. I am going to try and find something I can mount inside my bed where I mount my shovel so nothing is bouncing around. Former LIBBA #1818
Tman1
I carry a few boards- mainly a couple 12" x 12" 3/4 plywood ones. If you can find a good spot in your truck some 2x8 cut offs would be great too.
MartinO67
Put a gullwing storage box in that new bed of yours and put a piece of 2x8x 30 in there out of the way. Your good.... Leatherface
Hey Martin, did you see the size of my bed? It's just a touch bigger than the gullwing box! I should have gotten the extended bed! Former LIBBA #1818
Tman1
Just remember that some places require specific sizes of jack boards as a minimum, then add whatever you find that works for you.
Capt Buck
I use 3/4" double up'd togther with liquid nails....... Same here, made a jackboard and two to go under the tires. Glued them together so there wasn't any chance of screws or nails getting to tires adding more problems. Milled the edges and corners round, drilled nice handholes in each end with a 2" Forstner bit and added a length of 1/2" poly line for a pull cord.
