Penn Peerless no 9 reel

Does anybody have an illustrated manual or something to show how this reel is suppose to be put back together. I was just given 2 of them. they were corroded, and i took them apart to clean and lube but now i am having trouble putting them back together. any help would be much appriciated.

From penn parts site. Check them out if you need any parts too. I have a question for you as well. Ive been looking at these reels online but havent held one. Ive read they are the smallest of the level lines but how small are they?

They are 2and 1/2 inches in diameter on the sides, and about 3 and 1/2 wide. very lite for a 30 year old reel.

Hio....I'd slide on over to Alan Tani's web site, and scroll thru the Penn tutorials down to the Penn 209. It's the next size up from the 9/109, and should point you in the right direction. They are pretty close to one another.

The challenges (that I used to have, anyway) may be the worm shroud, and the click ratchet spring. If your dog spring is the flat bar type, not the coil spring type, see both examples in the 'short version' tutorial 113h.
