how old was your parent's piece and how was it you chose Castle Clocks ??
HJ, My Parent's piece is a Black Forrest Coo Coo Clock the late fifties early sixties, it had not worked since the late seventies. Castle repairs and sells antiques as well as new clocks, including grandfathers. He had one, maybe two grandfather clocks in his store.
I came across him because I'm in Bayonne part of each week. He was a very nice guy, and seemed very knowledgable.
I believe that call for a estimated market value would be a safe move, it would be interesting though to call the place that Charleston mentioned as well as Castle to see how they compare in opinion.
**Added in editing - forgot to mention, ultimately I trusted Castle with the job because there are very few people repairing & getting parts for the clock that my Parents have. When I initially brought the clock in he was familiar with it, and said that he had repaired another about five or six years ago.
