fill it and then reverse it.
i usually overfill my reels because after a few fish the line packs down and fits perfect on spool.
Uni to Uni x 2....this knot has held up to good sized blues, stripers, albies 'baby' tarpon to about 30 lbs...and even the bottom
(i.e. the leader always broke vs the knot)...I've never had a failure (although I'm pretty sure I just jinxed myself
)...I'm not sure if there are technically stronger knots out there - but given that I have a zero failure rate with some of the fish I catch combined with the relative ease of tying this knot, I can't see why this wouldn't be everyone's 'go to' knot.
