I have been having issues with my distance rigs becoming undone midfight during a power cast. This would be a huge problem obviously becasue it's going to be a huge negitive impact on my distance. Well to make a long story short I posted my issue on a UK site and they all recommended the Gemini Splash down leads. Im a OTG caster and have tried all the bait clips on the market and all of them have come undone on me. Appearently it's the cast. So it's either learn a swinging cast or try something new.. For you guys who dont know what they are look like check them out below:

Anyway there is one supplier in the states that I know of and when you order 15 or more you're looking at $3.75 each shipped.. Which is a little pricey. Not that I wont buy them but I heard from the supplier that they will soon be selling the bait clip seperate so you can attach your own leads to them which should save you a couple bucks. So as soon as I can I plan on buying some and testing them out (which would be in the winter kooky.gif ) Just thought I'd share.

I'll post my experience once I try them for you guys who "EDF" Extreme Distance Fish...

I had to google Gemini splashdown to see what you're refering to (some pic server sites are blocked on my network at work) and i found a link on the Gemini site to a US supplier.

I found them for $3.35 @ for 5oz and there doesn't seem to be a minimum.

Considering the lead's included, that seems like a good price to me.

They seem a bit funky, but I'm definitely gonna order some to try- thanks for the tip!

You can also use the breakaway wire sinkers and add an impact shield. The bigest problem with OTG casting of the wire sinkers is that they sometimes catch a tong in the sand and you have to retrieve the cast to reset the wires.

By breakeaway, I mean the old colorcoded design, not the new kits.

An easy way to solve this is to place a board or bucket cover under the sinker prior to casting.

The best way is a swinging cast [modified unitec or pendulum] so that the wires stay up.

Some suppliers may still have the old breakaways with the shield built in.

I love these sinkers. Usualy I can use a 4oz for a 6oz pyramid.

Does anyone have a source for Gemini products in the US? They sell a huge assortment of rigging items, not just weights. I went to their UK website and saw a link to a single US distributor. I tried to follow that link, but it is dead. I emailed Gemini twice, asking for information, and they did not reply. I would really like to learn more about European long distance rigging techniques and am frustrated that here in the US we are so far behind the cutting edge. I know about Breakaway US, in Texas, but it seems that they only sell a small fraction of the Breakaway products which are available in Europe. If anyone can point me toward a US source for these products, i would be very grateful.

I have used the bait clip only. A friend of mine gave me two of them, and they been been cast into the blue yonder. I havb 25 of them on order thru e-bay. I am begining to wonder if they are ever going to show up,ordered them a long time ago.

They work really well with smaller hooks and baits. the largest hook I could fit into the clip was a 6/0. they take some getting used to as far the way they work. It's awkward trying to get them clipped

that being said once the hook is in there it's not coming out till it hits the water . Ideal for otg cast. I have decided they are something I can't go fishing without. will ask Matt C where he got them ,can probably get some faster than where I ordered mine

That was an dealer in Texas they are no longer in business.

You can order Gemini Splash Down Solo Bait Clip fro Gemini and use with any sinker, I bought a mold to make Gemini sinkers seldom use anything else.

I also use the Imp clip from Breakaway but think they would come loose with an off the ground cast
