What colors are the best?

"Black bears are best"

sorry couldn't resist. Generally darker colors are used on darker nights. Yellow seems to be popular as well. Good luck

Wouldn't it be harder for stripers to be attracted to a darker lure at night?

It makes the silhoutte stand out more in theory.

As for your other question it really depends on what bait is around either that or eels

EELS are the fastest track to a big fish. Use the search button to learn how to fish them.

What ever you use...fish it slow and you'll do fine.

the BEST way to catch stripers at night is to be there.

there's no other way to do it.

there is no one best way. the best way for you might not be the best way for me. the best bait in one spot might not be the best bait in another spot. it's just not going to happen like that.

instead of asking something so general that can not possibly have one simple answer, how about trying a different question, without the word "best" in it.

perhaps something along the lines of.... hi, i'm going to fish one of the local beaches in a particular area of a state. no spot burning, though. i have XXXX gear and it looks like i'll be fishing mostly an XXXX tide... and i was wondering if you guys had some suggestions on how to fish it. i bet you'll find a lot more help

most people here don't respond well to "best".. because it doesn't exist.

Eels, Bunker Heads, and Plugs. Fishing for bass at night is the best time anyways. A lot of things work. Plugs should be fished very very slowly. Colors that work for me are: Black, Burple, Black and Chrome, and School Bus. Remember very slow retrieve. Good luck. Let us know how you make out.
