Trout and Salmon fishing in Mass

Thread Starter
I'm kinda getting bored with bluegill and bass fishing. I always go saltwater now but i have had no luck. I really want to try some trout of salmon fishing in mass. I was thinking about getting a Shakespeare fly rod kit and learning how to fly fish. Or I'm just using my current tackle. But i need to know some places and lures/bait. I'm willing to go to MA, RI, or NH they are somewhat close/ not a bad ride. Any tips would be much appreciated thank you.

Mepps spinners work good for trout.

1/8 oz spinners in general work well for trout- use lines no heavier than 6 pound test

thomas buoyant spoons are very deadly too.

caught a trout on my first try at trout fishing

dont know if this is typical but i probably see 50 trout for everyone i catch

i seem to land trout versus hookups on a ratio of 1:3

your best bet is right in your back yard(quincy), a good surf casting outfit and good to go. maybe you need to explore more, find more salt places to discover. there's no fresh water that can top whats going on locally. some of the places might feel like fresh water but the bite won't be.

try light tackle.

i'd trade my local area, this time of year, for yours all week. i wish 10-20min ride after wwork gave me shot at 20lb plus fish.

i know what you mean tho, i'm getting a little sick of fat rainbows.

search swift river.
