The FSM has nothing that I can find on this. I can't even tell which fuse it might be? Does anyone know where the pump is mounted or which fuse to check? Stumped.

went to my goto source for cherokee info:

This is a very common problem, because the placement of the tank and pumps in the fender well subjects them to rust. There's one for front and one for back, and the pumps are identical except for the electrical connector. Pull away the plastic liner on the left front fender*, and you'll find the tank with the pumps pressed in with grommets.

NAPA has the OEM style pumps for 14.99 here, and Parts Master has one for 12.99, which I think fits both front and rear and has a pigtail adapter for the connector.

If either of your washers is currently working, you might want to use up the fluid first because the front pump is at the bottom of the tank, and all the fluid will hit the ground when you pull it.

* edit to add: forward of the wheel \t\t

I just had some body work done on mine and got a new hood put on and the drivers side washer pump didnt work. It turns out that the line was pinched.

pump was $15.00, comes with pigtail and grommet. back in business. the pump body was rusted an allowed water infiltration to fry the motor.

Sweet! Glad it was a quick fix. Gotta do the rear pump on my 2000

The rear pump is directly in front of and slightly above the front pump, and the pumps are identical.

does the front pump have to be removed to do the back?

dbk - the pump just pulls out by hand. you don't even have to disco the hose or the electric. it is real simple to pop out both pumps if needed. the hose is on a barbed fitting and the electric is a plug in two prong jack.

the only real pain is getting the fender liner out. they use those little plastic plugs with the ribs on them. I was able to reuse all of mine.

the whole job took about 30 minutes and no tools.
