are you kidding march is far and away the worst month of the year. so far i have fished march in snow, hail with temps in the teens and single digits with windchill. wading in cold cold water usually with a touch of snow melt. and the worst days for fishermen are the best days for fish. march is love hate relationship.

season opens march first and ill more then likely be there

Just to be clear, the season never closes on the ocean side.

Guy's it doesn't matter what, where, and when. Just go out there and fish. I take 2 rods with me, one for plugging and the other for bait. I am sure one of them has to work. I' ll see u guys in the bays, next week.

and i agree with Randybunka, march is just like december in weather but since most of us have been sitting on our a$$es all winter it takes a couple weeks to get acclimated.

Although air temps may be similar, water temps in March tend to be cooler than December. In addition, more bait is around in December than in March. Gun to my head to catch in March vs. december, I'm fishing December every year.

It"s Over?

The fish don't know what month it is. But they do know that it's too cold for them to be in the bays en mass right now. The fish that are in the bays now are the same ones that were there a month ago. Knock your socks off. I'm waiting on the water temp to tell me when to fish.

I didn't mean to stir up anything. Of course December is a more prime month for fishing than March. My point was that there are days in Dec. when I am scraping ice off my guides as well. Though the temps aren't exactly the same, they are similar. I feel like it's just harder to get going in March after months of not fishing.

It starts on March first(1st). Got this info from the 2010 saltwater regulations from the fish and wildlife website.
