Where to buy lures (Cheap im a teen)

Right now i only have a buck tail that is in bad condition, a popper that is in good condition, and a few hopkins that are were from when me dad fished. The lures on this site run from 15$- 30$ and i dont have that money to spend as i just brought my surf casting rod, a 10' ugly stik with a reel. Is the bait shop the best place to go and talk to the workers there and hope they point me in the right direction because at dicks no one knows what there doing and i dont know what to choose. I just need a few good but cheap lures for mostly the suken meadow area on boat and shore. Also if anyone has anything used that they can give me a deal on that will be great. Time to go to bed so i have energy to fish tomorrow night.

You seem like a smart kid. I would research what I need by talking, reading and paying attention to people that know. Then in the winter there are a lot of fishing flea markets where you can pick up lures cheap (used & new). Just try being at these flea markets 1/2hr to 1hr prior to them opening so you can get the best of the lot. Good Luck.

Cheap and effective plugs:

-Bombers (black, chicken scratch and school bus patterns are staples)
-Bucktails (white, black and lime)
-Cotten Cordell Pencil Poppers
-Storm Shads

Also check the clearance bins at the large sporting goods stores (Dick's and Sports Authority). You can find some good deals.

That was nice of you redhawk

check tackle shops - many have "bargain bins" where you might find some wood lures to get started for less.

Matt123 ... There is a store called BENNY's in charlestown rhode island on rt 1... I know its far, but if your dad ever wanted to take a trip fishing up there (Great place to fish).. stop in to Benny's .. they have a huge bin of lures (good ones too.. atom, creek chub, rebel, bombers) that are only a few bucks apiece.. they are bargain bin lures that fell of the shelf, or people didnt buy..

Good Luck Matt
if you have any specific requests drop me a line I may have a few extra plugs but you have to be specific what plug you want

Go down to the B&T shop and buy a "007" tin with a green tube - it will cost you around $3. That's all you will need to catch anything that swims around the jetty at Sunken Meadow, as the predominant bait is sand eels, spearing, and killies.

You can leave all your other stuff at home, except for the popper - take that with you too for some blue fish.

I've caught 20# plus bass, fluke, sea robins, and blues with this single lure in that area.

Oh, and don't put bait on the hook, like I see plenty of folks doing down there Work is slow and near the bottom for bass and fluke and speed it up a little for the blues.

Tsunami 6" talking popper...... its only $6 dollars and its crazy durable and this lure is the blue fish killer...... you can but it in any tackle shop or even dick's... and if you dont have the money ill send you a brand new one so you can try it....
