I'm gonna try to powder coat some jig heads and I found a lot of good info using the search but I was wondering if I dipped the jigs in the powder coat and used the vinyl paint just for the mouth and eyes do I still have to use a clear coat for the spots im applying the color for the vinyl paint?

No, I've mixed vinal and powder paints with no issues. Note that you can do the mouth of the bills with powder paint. Dip the first color, and then use a small paint brush to apply some powder paint to the mouth. I've done 3-4 colors on a jig using this method.

Thanks Jig Man. I always learn something from your posts. One question though. Does the powder coating hold on to the brush until you apply it? I don't get how it stays on the brush but then again I haven't seen it yet. Also is there a special type of brush you use for the mouth. I found the nail trick you used for the eyes. Nice tip.

A small testors type brush is what I've been using cause they were easy to find around town. The powder hangs onto the brush just fine. Might take a few sweeps with the brush to get the right amount of powder in the mouth area. If the jig head is real hot, you might get some of the powder on the brush setting up. That seems to pull off easy enough. If you are doing multiple colors on the same jig, use different brushes to avoid mixing the colors. I always pull the brush threw my fingers before starting each run of jigs to remove any powder from the last go around and to insure the brissles will stay put.
