what are stingsilvers?

Thread Starter
To those who saw this posted in the "hardest cranking conventional" I'm sorry, I can't think of why I did it, and I'll try not to let it happen again

Anyway.....

I have a few "stingsilvers" that are custom made by locals here on the obx and come in a numerous amount of shapes, sizes, and at least 20 colors that are not available to anyone that lives anywhere else since their made locally.

I also have some made by strike king (I think) and they all come in the same shape. They have different sizes and maybe 6 different colors.

I don't think either are true "stingsilvers" so what is it? A specific type of metal/lead jig?

Essentially the same thing as a diamond jig only hammered. Don't sweat it.

I believe Haw River makes the original Stingsilver

actually i would say the two were similar in desgin but totally different concepts. diamond jigs are usually dropped and wobble nicely to the bottom. sting silver can do this but they are originally casting jigs, designed to be burned through mid column or even topwater and have a tight wiggle on retrieve.

I caught a nice red drum with one, amidst a huge pod of medium bunker 2 years ago. MAde a believer out of me, but the hooks need to be upgraded for bigger fish...
