It did not take that long
I started it in the spring, sometime in March I think. Just a head up to all rod builders out there when you do not like how the rod finish looks on the ferrule wrap and you try to sand it level and sand into the threads it sets you back a bit
I think I did the ferrule wrap three times and could not get it as good as I wanted but I was done with it and went with it as it is. After you saw the butt section in the spring it took me a while to decide how to build the rest of the rod. I really liked the dragon scale pattern on the butt and after finishing it I figured I could have added the letters to the open diamond in the pattern. I was thinking of stripping the butt and redoing it with the WRI and NAIL in that pattern. I decided not to and figured I could add the pattern and letters to the ferrule wrap. This made sense since I have two butts for this rod, one full length and one bringing the total length to 12'6". I was afraid over overusing metallic thread but I am happy with the results. It is a very heavy blank to start with so I was not worried about the added weight.
Thanks for all of the compliments.
