Of course "Merry Christmas" was just the PC thing to say when your ancestors were told that if they kept celebrating the Winter Solstice they'd be murdered.

It's like the bunny that comes around at Easter. An invention of the church to make Christianity easier to swallow. It's how Christianity spread so quickly. Convert the ruler and let him terrorize the populace into following suit.

Christmas wasn't "the first" or "the original" winter holiday. It's still not the only one. Which is why no reasonable person would get any more upset over "Happy Holiday's" than they would "Merry Christmas".

Christmas is a Christian holiday, a religious holiday.
Keep your religion out of my face.
If people want to celebrate the birth of their savior by buying
Chinese crap, running up insane debts, wasting 6 weeks shopping,
decorating, and making dinners, to show how "merry" they are about
baby Jesus, fine by me.
And all the while complaining that it's a big hassle, how expensive
it is, and how relieved they are "once it's over" .
My favorite cop out and admission of what a farce it is...
it's for the kids . Yep, telling them lies about Santa is "for the kids".
It sets a great example. Lying is OK if you get "free stuff".

So don't jam your religion down mine or others throats.

Why the eff do I have to listen to an ass load of crappy
sappy and hokey Christian songs when I'm in a hardware store,
grocery shopping, and just about every other public space.
Far as I'm concerned Christmas is a belligerent and selfish
consumerist free-for-all hidden under a thin veneer of being a
religious holiday.

Not to mention the whole shebang is a bastardized religious holiday.
what the eff do evergreen trees, mistletoe, reindeer or Santa Clause
have to do with baby Jesus?
