I dont know what makes a custom rod the best but ive got a bunch from Mike At M&D's and i love em. I know mant people here have gotten them from mike as well. I got one second hand that was built at CMS and they do a good job as well.

I've seen Mike's work and it is great. My first custom will be from him. Maybe Santa will be good to me.

Al Goldberg is a fine builder--one of the best, if not the best. And he charges accordingly. Being that he's semi-retired, he can pick and choose. You don't hire Al to build a rod----you sort of commission him.

Figure about double what you'd pay Mike or CMS---for starters Maybe more if he has to order the blank and pay for shipping.

I got a nice 10ft custom rod from Local Hooker Rods. They did a beautiful professional job at a great affordable price. They are based in Chatham and Falmouth. Check it out!

Pauley - Spring will be here soon nuff! Thanks for the compliment! Lot's going on. The ACID-WRAP rods have gotten a lot of attention, both in-shore and off-shore!
