With the exception of the Stephan Yelle acquisition, is there any reason for me to get excited about this season? Once Bergeron takes "the hit", we will be left with the same old building 19 roster: " good stuff cheap!" redface.gif

My hope is that Jacobs will sell the team to someone who wants to win and not sell beer and hot dogs! Are we now in "building mode" as Mario did with his team or is this more of the same cwm33.gif ?

IMHO, the Bruins rebuild is a 5 year plan, they are in year 2 right now.they'll be contenders in the 5th. Not only do they have to rebuild, but they also had to rid themselves of Harry and company, as well as the ghosts and protocol of yesteryear.

Until then a few moments of glory every week. stay patient it will come.

OK. I'll buy the "rebuilding" however that leaves us with one disturbing fact:

They already traded away the centerpiece!!! kooky.gif

View PostAs long as Jacobs owns the team, and Sinden has his hands in the mix. You'll never see a championship teamfrown.gif. NEVER

They gave us the "impression" that Harry is gone.....However i suspect he will be "consulting" forever.

I give high marks to the coach, and am willing to buy into the "rebuilding plan", but that leaves one question; who is the centerpiece? Do we put ALL the marbles in a very promising young talent that is one "hit" away from retirement? They dont have a "franchise" player..

And they proabbly will not get one, unless they get lucky in their own farm system. from what I have seen when it comes to making a run at that cup, it's your 2 and 3rd lines that can make a difference in todays game- you need a balanced attack, some workers, some decent PK and of course a hot goalie. right before trade deadline you enhance your team with some veterans that "have been there" in the finals.

Now adays it's not about money, because everyone has the same cap amount- it's about work ethic, and playing as a team.

Some teams will dwell on a franchise player- more often that franchise player puts the puck in the net (goals, not just assists- aka Joe thorton) and is surrounded by others that do the same.

You could have a whole team of Adam Oates, Ron franciss' and you still won't win the cup.

Adam Oates and Ron Francis, were not franchise players. Neely, Bourque were franchise players. I'm ok with the salary cap. The problem now is, most of the players in the NHL know the Bruins aren't committed to winning it all. That makes it difficult to sign that franchise player. Didn't they offer 100 million to Hossa over several years and he chose Detroit for 1 year? Who turns down 100 million dollars?headscratch.gif...Why, is the better question.

just my 2 cents. I was a die hard Bruins fan. I stopped watching them, when i was old enough to understand their tactics. Put an ok product on the ice and fill the seats.

How do you trade away the league MVP, and expect to be a better team in doing so?kooky.gif

now i'm mad.gif all over again.

fricken Bruins

The rangers have proven your point over and over..the key is chemistry.

I dont have enough fingers and toes to count the number of "has beens" the bruins have signed...Including Fernandez (dont get me started on goalies) redface.gif

or Paul Coffey. What a pant load that was.

Don't get wrong they have a start, as far as team building goes, but it is still 2,3,4 years to go before they will be legitimate contenders. As far as teams that have consisitantly produced better play out of their 2-3 rd lines, play as a team day in and day out, feared as a team if things get nasty and generally better play than what the salary shows. You don't have to look much further than Lindy Ruffs Buffalo Sabers.

Coach longevity = a decent competitive hockey team

Gee what a concept.headscratch.gif

The last thing the bruins need right now is a marquie, high salary player. or a veteran has been. What they need now are players that have been in the league a short time that can develop into a Stu Barnes type player for example.
