Yellow, pink, red fishing line vs clear question

I know there are several colors of fishing line on the market which I have always found confusing. I fish mono and braid with the mono being clear and the braid green. These two cover everything I fish for. I have also used red line and can't tell any difference in fish catching abilities.

Other than these colors why and when would you use a pink or yellow line or red or multi colored???

I heard\\read that red is one of the first color wavelengths to disappear under water.

I Have Trolled With Yellow Srenn And Green Berkly And Had Both Rods Go Over{fish On} At The Same Time

Why do we have red line that invisiable and red hooks that attract fish?????

I gotta think the red line think is a hoax--red hooks in my experience do catch more fish, leading me to think that red ("blood") is actually quite visible underwater--it's just that it loses it's red color after a few feet and looks blackish (ask a diver) this is not the same as "disappearing." That being said, I don't know why, but PINK ANDE has been awful good to me in the mono dept. I stay away from any other "colored" line. Clear or pink--twenty-five years of trout and clear-water bass fishing has taught me this. Flo lines are the worst. However, I do sometimes use a flo. yellow braid to see where I am casting, but then I go to a flourocarbon leader (3-4'). This seems to make a big difference.

y'know i had a moment the other night when i saw the same thing.... that said, i've got 30 pound yellow pp on my plug rod...(im a little spastic, and the yellow line helps me alot), light tackle rod has moss green 20pp.. and my conventional rod has green suffix 50.....i dont think it matters what color fishing line you're using if you're tying a 5' fluorocarbon / or mono leader to it....

True.

I use yellow braid on my yellow Nautils because it looks cool. It also helps me to sew what's going on with my line. For boat fishing I don't care about color because I add 10-15 feet of fluoro to the end of whatever I'm using.

There are many fishermen that swear by pink Ande for yellowtail fishing around Catalina Island in California. On one my fishing buddies is one person I know personally who still uses it

It doesn't disappear--it just turns black

X-actly....so why don't they make black mono?

The PP I use is red, but I just put it on cause I liked the color

I don't pay much attention to the color of the line. With 4-5' of floro/mono on the end i don't think it matters much. That being said...I have a 704z w/orange Sufix on it...and it looks really cool!

Well...yeah...the color red disappears and since there are no other colors being reflected it would be black. I didn't mean that the LINE would disappear.

Huff never gave you a spool of black Ande? I still have some around somewhere, I think. Unless it didn't make the move with me

Nope- he didn't. I didn't even know they made it and I've been to Ande in W, Palm too

They probably haven't made it for 20+ years now. Huff somehow got his hands on a bunch of 1/4 pound spools many moons ago, and he gave me one. This was when Ande cost about 3 bucks a spool.
