Shimano Navi Pg 8000 (2006)

Anyone on here have this reel or have used one. Basically looks like my older Shimano Sahara 8000. Closes equivalent I can tell is the venerable Shimano Spheros except has an extra bearing. Sorta a cross between that reel and the Sedona 8000.

Not available here in the states. Looks like a good reel though. Occasionally see these on the auction sites. can you post a pic?

what are you going to use the reel for? what type of fishing? the navi have bad handles ihmo. how mcuh are you paying for the 8000? it has only i think 10# or 15# of drag.

EDIT: i didn't see the PG, the PG have different handles.

it doesn;t have the new technology like aero wrap, paladin system, etc...
make sure you get the handle on the picture- one piece aluminum handle.

Give the Navi PG a pass. Trust me.

The new Stradic 6000/8000FI would be a MUCH better choice

The spool is very much similar to that of a Spheros. In fact the 6000 (in photo) has the same line cap as the Spheros 6000

Is it true that the max drag is only 15. I think the new sustain is something like 40?

the new stradic is 30# and waterproof drag. the navi isn't.
it's a 2006 model, if you want a JDM with the latest features of the stradic (aero wrap, sealed drag, paladin system, aluminum one piece handle)- take a look at the shimano elf. the problem is the biggest size is 4000 only.

The elf does look nice. I would get one if I needed one. But as most of you know I do not need another spinning reel.

It has a factory drag rating of 9kg or 19.84lbs. A friend of mine uses it to catch bait Another one who tried to pit it against a sailfish had the drag tension knob deform (melted) and it got stuck on his spool

Are you kidding me? The Elf is an entry level reel commonly found in the discount bin! The largest Elf is a 6000 but only has 3BB 1RB. I've toyed with it before and its definitely not what I'd like to use for serious saltwater fishing.

you think i am kidding?
I have used my Elf on the jetties and inlets, I caught a 30# red with it and a few snooks. have you tried fishing with an elf?

3 A-RB + 1 Roller Bearing
Aluminum body.
Aluminum Rotor .
Micro Click.
AERO WRAP.
Machined Aluminum Handle.
Positive & Friction Bail.
A-RB (Anti-Rust Bearings).
