most smaller metals will produce an Albie if you can get it to them. don't get fooled by "the heavier it is the longer the cast". Albies feed high most of the time so try to keep your lure near the surface. the standard teaser rig used for Bass has produced double header Albies many times for me. as a fly use a 2-3in SurfCandy, with a 3/4oz Hopkins shorty. most of the time letting you lure sink is less productive. also very effictive it the popper/teaser rig. remove the hooks from any floating popper, off the tail tie the same SurfCandy 20in behind. medium to fast retrieve just chugging it along, not popping it

3" Lunker City Salt Shaker.

I disagree with the thought that Albies feed near the surface most of the time. I have caught many Albies on plugs that dive over 5' and on fast sinking fly lines when there was no sign of them near the surface.

Blind cast with a small diving plug and you may be surprised.

1 or 2 ounce in-line drail weight, followed by 3 feet of light fluoro and a slim fly of your choice, sluggo, etc. Nothing casts farther. Feather the end of the cast to straighten the rig before it hits the water, then rip it back to the beach.
