Bill A
I have had nothing but problems trying to use a fish-finder (sinker slider) rig with braid for fluke. It always ends up with braid twisted around it. However I found an old fish finder rig from an unknown source on the boat with a slider that was about 2" long, not the standard 1/2 inch. It worked great. It was a braid-friendly slider for fluking. The 1/2 inch works for eeling, as the sinker generally does not drag the bottom. Does anyone know of a source for these braid friendly sliders?
Flukezilla
You can replace the metal snap with mono of any length you desire. Just end the line in a loop which is large enough to allow for quick sinker changes. JJ
BillA, You might check out a Cabelas tackle catalog. I recall seeing a "fishfinder" slider in there some time back. It wasn't the typical white nylon sleeve (I've had the same problem and also, the braid wears through the nylon) but rather a longer black plastic like thing with a snap attached for the weight. Good luck JJ

Bill A
Thanks a bunch guys. I took a look at Cabellas. The picture is exactly the one I found laying around on the boat. The long one is braid friendly.

Bill A
The item I was looking for turned out to be Cabela's "sinker slide" $2.99/10. 1 & 9/16 long
Sudsy
So I take it that's not it??? Bill A
Your picture was not it. I tried to upload a picture but I didn't seem to work. If you go on Cabela's site and search for Sinker Slide they have a nice picture. The length of the slide tube and the sinker all the way on one end combined are probably what makes it braid friendly. Sudsy
Found it. What's up with the little T thing on top??? ------------------ "Any time a man ain't fishin' he's fritterin' away his life." - Rancid Crabtree I just wanta play everyday despite small nagging injuries -- and go home to a woman who appreciates how full of crap I truly am. ~ Crash Davis Social Distancing since 1962
Sudsy
My problem with the Fish Finders has been the the braid cutting through them and watching the sinker fly off to England. Is anyone doing one that's braid friendly yet? ------------------ "Any time a man ain't fishin' he's fritterin' away his life." - Rancid Crabtree I just wanta play everyday despite small nagging injuries -- and go home to a woman who appreciates how full of crap I truly am. ~ Crash Davis Social Distancing since 1962
GOTTOG
Don't have a problem as I use a shock leader of mono. That lil T-top thing looks like it would cause more tangles Team Goats
Bill A
The little extra piece probably can be cut off. It caused no problem at all for me. It would probably take a while before the tube would wear through, especially at that length, Vs the little 1/2" ones carried locally. Also, at $2.99 for 10, it should not be a big problem. I did not see that after most of a day dragging 6 - 8 oz in 50-70' of water, until the entire rig was lost after a snag on the bottom.
ReelinRod
Does anyone know of a source for these braid friendly sliders? [/b] I use these from Breakaway. They are about 4 inches long and have an elliptical hole that forces the leader to stand out at a 90 deg. angle to the main line when casting. When reeling in, the line and leader then become a straight pull. I have not been able to rip one off casting and the long leg really reduces windmill tangles, especially with longer leaders. It does sag with a whole clam on the business end but with smaller chunks or strips for fluke, it rules! You can’t truly call yourself “peaceful” unless you are capable of great violence. If you are incapable of violence, you are not peaceful, you are just harmless.
