How Much $$$ Does it cost to have a Boat slip in NJ?

Just wanted a ballpark figure about how much $$$ it cost to have a boat slip for a 17ft fishing boat for the summer and if there are places where you can pay for a slip in the summer and store it there for the winter season in NJ. I am new at this process and just wanted to get some insight.

Lots of places for a boat that size. You'll pay ~75.00/ft. Where do you plan to fish?

Most places charge per foot of boat length..like $60-70 per foot for the season in the water. Most seasons are from April through October. Our marina hits us extra for November and December I think.
Most have winter dry storage too for a few more hundred bucks.
If you can store it at your house or somewhere else that is always a plus.
Costs depend alot on where you are located. We are in the Shark River and good spaces with water are very limited, so the cost is higher.

Look to pay between $60-90/foot for the summer depending where the marina is located. And if you store it at the marina look at $20-30/foot for winter storage. I would start looking now, because each year marina's are closing and finding a slip gets to be harder and harder.

I pay $130 per foot LOA on the North Shore of LI. There are way more boats than slips. Where I am (Northport), if you don't know someone it could take several years on a waiting list to get a slip at a private marina. The waiting list at a town slip, that charges much less, is about 10 years.

Darn edit.... that should be $139

The cost is for the whole season. Boating is expensive but not that expensive.... yet.

I wonder what the price of gas will be this year - last year the cheapest around was $3.89 /gal.

I pay 110 a foot for April 15 thru Oct 15 season. They charge 3.00 per foot per week for time after Oct 15. The winter storage is about half at 50 a foot for the off season.

Good Luck.

Between summer slip, winter storage, shrink wrapping and winterizing, I pay ~3500/yr. Yikes!

So what's the going rate for yard storage? I've been toying with the idea, but haven't gotten around to making any calls yet.

A quick rule of thumb (especially with new boats) is slip, storage, insurance, maintenance, etc will annually cost 10% of the boat cost

I feel lucky I only pay $85.00 per foot on the Shark River. The municipal marina in Belmar now gets $135 per foot and there is a 1 or 2 year waiting list.
One thing I found when looking for a slip in Shark River is that a phone call will not get you a slip in any of the private marinas. They want to "size you up".

I'm paying roughly $130/ft on the Manasquan River. Location depends a lot on how much you'll pay --- if you're in a so-so location, your payment will be lower; if its in a desired location, it'll be much higher
