Poe's Hullabaloo Poppers -U know any history??

Does any one know any history about the old Poe's Saltwater 2300 series Hullabaloo Poppers? They appear to be made out of cedar (some one told me balsa, but it seems too hard)? Mouth is more cupped than the poppers they sell/make now. They were weighted for better balance/swimming I assume.

If I remember correctly, and don't hold me to this, Poe's sweetwater crankbaits are made from cedar so I guess it is possible. (EdJ would probably know) But, it has been many years since I purchased one so, like I said, don't hold me to it. I remember having a Poe's Awakener topwater muskie lure which never did anything as far as catching. Either way, I was never really impressed with the quality of the Poe's lures I have used. (ie: lot's of cracking)

Sorry, I'm not sure how to post pics on the new board so I can't help there. I would like to see it though, just out of curiosity.

Thanks Mike !

TimS needs to edit his Image uploader because it asks for a url?! (same as the URL uploader -- me must have goofed when he was fixing at at 3am )

Eyelets are screwed into the body - not the best way, BUT I guess I could thru wire them.

Any collector value, or just an user abuser?! I could paint over it as well, too......LOL.

Maddog, try asking in the lure building forum. I'm sure you'll get the answers to any of your questions there.

btw, did you put new hooks on that? They look like the VMCs that Tim sells here, if I ain't mistaken, and I don't thnik they are the factory hooks on a Poe's.

please correct me if I'm wrong.

That is how it came out of the clear plastic box dude. Hooks are real sharp, too.

I'll send a link over to the lure forum guys - I figured they would read here first.
