What does Test Curve mean?

I noticed that the English Carp Rods are rated by "test curve" (ie: 3-pound test curve, 4-pound TC, etc..). Can anyone shed some light on what this means? Thanks.

Test curve is the amount of weight it takes to bend the rod into a 90 degree angle.

In other words, with the rod/blank secured to a table parallel to the floor, whatever amount of weight it takes to force the tip to point straight at the floor, that's the test curve.

I thought it was the reason I got "B"s in school, instead of "C"s.

Its means holding the rod Vertical fitted with reel and line ... its the force needed by pulling the line for the rod to form a 90 degree bend too horizontal ... that's the " Test Curve " .... see the answer was in the explanation all the time
