crazy idea.. fishing off a jet-ski?

I was thinking tonight when i saw a good deal come up for a newer sea-doo. Has any ever fished off a jet-ski? I know a decent 3 seater is more stable than a kayak, faster, drafts under a foot, take more of a swell, then you could use it for recreation? Strap a crate on the back with a pole/tackle and you should be all set. Weird idea I know just looking to see if anyone has thought of this crazy idea too..

That's not too crazy. I used to fluke fish off a big tube in the bay when I was a kid. Rod, tackle bag, one of those yellow killie buckets and a paddle, lots of fun.

There was a jet ski on the BST forrum last year, that was supposedly rigged for fishing. do a search and you should find it.

I saw it being done on the north end of Plum Island. They were drift fishing the outgoing along with a buch of other small boats. Seemed to be working o.k. although I did not see them pick up any fish. Also saw it being done near Captiva Island in FL.

There was a guy I used to see doing it in the Navesink/Shrewsbury. Had a big wave runner rigged out with rod holders and a cooler strapped to the back. Great idea

I know a guy who does it a lot. They're fairly easy to beach and put back in the water, too.

Yea exactly what i was thinking! I'm trying to find something that I can pull behind the Jetta because I'm having a hard time finding a mooring to keep a boat at this summer. Even a jet boat looks like it might work and be easier for my car to pull. Sea-doo/ sea-ray make a 14' searayder that is pretty open and would also pull a skier with seating for 2 or 3. I'll do some info and see if I can dig up some pics. thanks

A friend of mine used to take a 2 seater jetski out through the Golden Gate. He used it to troll for salmon and bass. I guess if your not a hot dog it is just a small wet watercraft.

One of my coworkers uses his jet ski to fish down in the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel area. When the water gets rough, he stays close to shore. Otherwise, he just gets a little bit wet. He chases big blues all the time. As a warning though. We all thought there was something wrong with him.

There was an article in saltwater sportsman last year(with pictures)of a guy in hawaii who routinely fished from his jetski.in the photo he had a yellowfin tuna about 250lbs.

I've seen a couple of groups of guys with jet skis here in alaska going out into Prince William Sound, they had gas cans, fishing rods, tents & camping gear & rifles all straped on and they were heading out. There was always a group of at least 3 or 4 of them, good thought for safety around here, no gas, docks or marina's out in the sound, pretty much its wilderness once you get a few miles out of town. Not even a good beach to land on, in a lot of places the mountain & trees come right down to the water. Don't know where they were going but they were going fast.

stay in the shallow water just past the sandbars in the bay and bounce a bucktail you will catch tons of fluke- a keeper once in a while is possible- never know!

I knew of a guy who did it in a SJ inlet with Eels at night and took some nice bass. Same waters I was skishing. Never Saw him do it, but heard from a few reliable sources.

My ex's dad had a 2 seater rigged up for fishing in NC with a cooler rack and 2 rod holders. I used it to troll for spanish and blues. I did ok with it but like a boat better to fish out of because the rod holders were so far back. One day coming through the inlet got wacked in the head by a loose trolling weight, I learned to secure them better
