1. I appreciate all the replies guys and apologize for not responding sooner. It's good to hear that at least some are throwing musky lures for stripers. I guess to some a glide bait made for musky seems large but after throwing them for many years they don't seem large at all to me. Again, I appreciate the comments. SD
2. The swimbait weighs about 7 ounces.
3. I just went through this awhile back, the cleanout was easy, for me the worst part was going under, sucked, spinning everywhere for a couple of minutes before I blinked out. Hope it goes better for you..........it's painless. SD
4. Here is a swimbait............ Here is a glide bait..........
5. I build a few lures for musky and pike and I'm curious as to whether guys ever use jerkbaits/glidebaits for stripers? Or maybe hard swimbaits? I'm surrounded by great fishing but unfortunately stripers are not included so that's why i'm asking. Thank you, SD
6. ]Thanks for the information........ I have built and sold lures for musky and pike for many years. Some of my lures have also ended up in the hands of striper fisherman. I don't want to get in trouble with admin so won't mention my company name but here is a few pictures of some jerkbaits I am currently building. I hope to fish for stripers in the coming year, have never fished for them and really want to give it a try. Thx again..... 7. Guys it's been awhile since I posted here and decided to check back. Unfortunately I don't have stripers close to me here and spend most of my time fishing for salmon, sturgeon, steelhead, and tiger musky. I'm curious, are musky jerkbaits used much for stripers? Thank you! RM
8. Anyone tried automotive urethanes or moisture cured urethanes as a clear coat? I am trying to find something that will go on thin but be very tough. thx.
9. That makes perfect sense, you did a great job of explaining it, will have to give it try!! Thank you!
10. How are you getting the correct angle on the slot? If I am picturing this correctly it doesn't seem like the blade will adjust enough to meet the angle needed for most applications.........guess I need to go out and look at my saw.
11. Man you do some awesome work, those things are beautiful!! Jed V.
12. Yes big time. I typically use etex but the last time I tried Devcon it set up way faster than it did a few yrs back. Jed V.
13. Have you guys figured out a way to consistently cut out a square lip slot? I cut the wood when it's still square with my band saw, the table is square to the blade, but when you have to make multiple passes it seems impossible to get it perfect. Any suggestions? thank you!
14. Great tutorial! Well done! Jed V.
