  2. down south the red drum numbers are exploding. putting a slot limit on them allowed them to have an amazing come back....now if only that'd be applied to stripers.

It's been done, but not by many. nice! my dad got me hooked on both. he had an old built Studebaker and then a stingray. my first car was a 96 corolla on the bottle haha. now the rolls are reversed and he learns a bit about both from me.
  4. anyone here have an automotive passion along with their fishing passion? I try and divide my time (and money) between these 2 hobbies. Been fishing forever and playing with cars for the last 10 years or so. current stable consists of a daily diver 04 grand Cherokee with a lil lift and whatnot. [img= and my baby is a 05 gto. cam'd, stalled, built trans, etc. https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/1912124_10101863534952967_8957467202249236524_n.jpg?oh=d557caa7e7e49a561b1c40f0fb2b73d8&oe=5515CFC8&__gda__=1423710711_c1a509f36ab8ba2a9d92c78805e81b0c] Prior toys include a 7.3 excursion on 37s, an xj lifted 6.5" on 33s, a 306 h/c/I foxbody coupe, cts-v, 500whp mr2, and a couple bikes. (r1, zx6r, gsxr 750) what are some of ya'lls toys and builds?
  5. Down here in MD I fish from the Rt 50 bridge leading into Ocean City a lot at night for rock. real nice shadow line created and tons stacked up. One night I was out there with my girlfriend and a few other locals fishing. Guy and his buddy pull up in a small aluminum boat 20 yards to our right and anchor right along the shadow line and start casting directly in front of us. they are casting across everyone making it impossible to fish where we are. A few words are exchanged and the 2 of them tell us to **** off. One local proceeds to watch their casts and then cast over their line and snag them and cut their lures off one after the other. They still didn't get the point. Then we noticed they were drinking on the boat. A quick call got the marine police out there and their asses towed in. a few hours later I guess they were released and came back and did the same **** all over again. This time lead was flying at them from 10+ people on the bridge.
  6. hit the north jetty in OC Saturday for tog. wind was a bit nasty out there. Bite wasn't that great nor was the size of fish. ended up landing 8 13-15.5" on greens. may go back out tomorrow (11/11) and give it another shot.
  7. I appreciate all the help, the abu's were what I was reading about in older threads too but just wanted to see if anything else had come out since then or taken top rank. I've tried using spinning reels set up for right handed (handle on left side) and it's a full blown struggle for me. I think if I got a conventional set up like that i'd be turned off very quickly.
  8. So I have decided I want to dive into learning to use a casting reel. I've been reading about them as far as level wind, centrifugal vs mag, etc. I'm thinking I was a level-wind mag brake reel. I need a left handed reel so that greatly cuts down on my choices and not trying to break the bank either incase I completely hate it. Now I'm not sure if there are diff types you use for bait-fishing vs lures or if they are versatile for all types of fishing or even if rod length plays a role in picking. so any insight or guidance in that department would be great as well as any recommendations on a good entry level starter reel that won't break the bank? thanks!

  10. How's it going? making my final trip down to the family beach house for a long weekend fishing trip. Place is in Avon. Coming down the 7-11th. The weather looks like it will be decent and a mostly westerly wind. With that type of wind what can be expected as far as surf, especially those big drum that were everywhere this past weekend prior to the blow. Took a lot of convincing to talk toe gf into going down for the trip and she saw all the bulls caught at the end of last week and is hoping for that. any insight or pointers would be great. stay in the avon area or hit the point and south for most productivity? thanks
