  1. Tie on a 4 to 6 lb fluorocarbon leader, walk around the pond casting spoons and or spinners depending on wind,(I use spinners on windy days) The trout will give away their location if you're observant. Tight lines!
  2. Baitcaster I use crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs in the 3/8 to 3/4 oz sizes. Spinning gear I like weightless Senkos, jigs and soft plastics baits under 3/8 oz. Good luck.
  3. I use braid with a flouro leader. The braid is more expensive but it will last 4x as long as mono. I use Suffix 832 on my spinning set ups. Bass fishing I like a 20lb. braid with a 8lb.flouro leader, I attach my leader with a uni to uni knot. I like the uni knot because I can use a long leader. I use a 20' leader, this gives some stretch to the line. Good luck.
  4. Largemouth bass fishing with baitcaster I use 20lb. braid with 10 or 12 lb.fluoro leader, I attach my leader w/ a uni to uni knot. My leader is at least 15 to 20'long. The long leader gives stretch to the line. This is very helpfull exspecially when fishing crankbaits. Topwater bass fishing I use straight braid 20 lb.test. Spinning gear for largemouth I use 15 to 20 lb. braid with a 6 to 8 lb. test fluoro leader attached the same way and length. Trout fishing I use spinning gear, I use 10 to 15 lb. braid w/ 2 to 6 lb.fluoro leader depending on where I'm fishing. The leader is attached w/ the uni to uni knot and the length is 15 to 20' long. I have been using this method for at least 5 years and it has worked well. Tight lines.
  5. Crankbaits need some stretch in the line, I use 20lb.braid with a 20' fluorocarbon leader. Leader is usually 12lb test, attached with a uni to uni knot. Top water straight 20 lb.braid, braid floats. Floro sinks, it will hinder the action of a topwater bait. Good luck!
  6. ASrod you're not street wise like many of us on this site. Europe is not a safe place for a 16 year old naive kid. I'm not being mean, only truthful. I'm sure your parents worry about what's going on with ISIS and the refugees. Stay alert and stay safe.
  7. I like the Senko's or the Yamamoto's. Depending on water depth and wheather conditions, weightless works well in low winds. These worms are heavy and sink well on light tackle, I recommend spinning gear with 8lb test. If using wackey rigged I like the 5" size and purchase a wackey rig tool with the O rings, these worms are expensive and this helps them from tearing as easily. I would suggest trying a spinnerbait if it's windy, I caught 6 keeper yesterday with a nice chop and the surface. Using a 1/2 oz spinnerbait. Big bass where feeding well. Tight lines!
  8. Lamar woke up. I thought he was a gonner. I Hope that he recovers completely and gets the help he needs.
  9. Hi JC, glad to hear all is going well. Don't give up on marriage, I found a keeper when I was in my forties, many years ago...
  10. 20# Suffix 832. I use a fluorocarbon leader as long as 20' attached with a uni to uni knot. The long leader gives some stretch to the line, braid has no give, this is especially critical for crankbaits. When top water fishing use straight braid, it floats. Tight lines!
  11. Any freshwater fish, including bass...
  12. The question on large swimbait scaring the fish, I agree the fish will scatter, the large smart fish will not return. If you don't have space to cast 15 to 20 yards past the target I would suggest an underhand cast using a baitcast reel and a long rod. This should help soften the entry. Good luck.
  13. On a small, shallow pond for trophy fish I would use large soft plastics weightless or lightly weighted, If it's windy with a chop on the water break out a spinnerbait. If you hear frogs croaking, topwater frog lures are a blast... Tight lines.
  14. Shimano Curado, $150 ish, I've had mine for 8 years never a problem. I'm not familiar with the new models. Good luck.
