  1. Yeah, okay, so it's not salt. But I used my saltwater gear. And it IS a bass.
  2. Adam, first off, welcome to SOL. Secondly, people are messing with you. Don't go out and start weaving your own cast net. do a search for "hi lo rig" and that should get you started. If you're not into the bait and wait game then it gets a little more complicated (but not as boring, imo). Good luck!
  3. It's like they know there 's a hook but aren't smart enough to not eat rubber. Every single cast was getting hits. It got to the point where if I didn't get a solid take on the drop then I just reeled in and started over. I need to learn to fly fish.
  4. I had a variation. Started with the largest (5" I think) and went down from there.
  5. Just pulled the yak out of the back of the Hook. Bluefish were biting like crazy, every cast they were nipping at it. They were really only interested in swim shads and I went through quite a few. I tried other lures with tail hooks but they only wanted to tail chomp. This guy put up a nice fight, jumped a couple of times. As soon as my lure hit he jumped out of the water and hit it on the way back down. 7. Good condition, just thinning the herd. $70 obo (I'm in Howell, NJ)
  8. I stopped trying to sell this reel but it's still available, if anyone's interested.
  9. Just took the kayak out front but got tired of paddling against the wind instead of fishing. Spot burn, I know, but I just came from a park on Shark River and it was a sad sight. Hundreds of dead bunker with more almost dead. Saw some come to the surface for air. I saw a small fluke swim by, didn't appear to be affected but it didn't seem hungry either.
  10. I'm on my way to do just that! Clams and walking the beaches of Monmouth County. I haven't had any luck all year, so at worst I'll be consistent.
  11. I went out around three times in the last week. Twice from land, once (yesterday) from yak. Nothing happening out there for me, on any of my outings. I did buy a new reel (SG Release) that I need to work on fine tuning, as well as a new rod (Tica Surge). I need to start trimming the herd so look for my posts in the Marketplace. I fished bunker, clams, and the usual lures, all to no avail. Here fishy fishy.
