  1. The good news is the bass in summer tend to stay deep. I fish the boulder fields in the pre dawn times when the bass come in to feed until sun up. The fishing is usually close to semi deep water and the tides move quickly,so it is a better habitat for the bass to survive. Careful handling is the keep to a safe release. As you can guess I'm a C/R fisherman.
  2. Don't take a large fish out of the water to weigh, measure the the fish and calculate the weight later. During the summer warm water makes recovery hard on the fish. Most people don't revive the big fish long enough. If you are on a boat with high sides you need to hold the fish on a big Boga grip and have the boat move very slowly till the fish revives. It can take a good bit of time. I use a trolling motor holding the jaws till it really bites down in my hand. I have a flats boat so it is easy. Please flatten the barbs, especially on trbles. It makes release much safer and easier.
  3. My son is there right now,I will be interested in his experience.
  4. I've had very good service from repair dept, Broke a tip on a ceiling fan that they couldn't replace but I paid the difference of an upgraded model for a new rod very pleased.
  5. Better late than never. 2 day response time is a joke. Usually they a long gone.
  6. I would never plan on the regular towing of a 30 FT BOAT. It would be a total nightmare. The logistics of dealing with ramps and parking, no thanks .23ft boat is about the biggest I would want to deal with.
  7. Thank you saying that Popasilva, it will always be The Tappan Zee for those of us who have been around ,it will always be T Z.
  8. You beat me to it Makorider, in 16ft aluminum boat a 3ft wave looks like a 6 fter LOL I've owned aluminum boats that are fine for inshore activity.
  9. Original VS had the serial #s on the side plate, I have 3, 100 and 2- 150's. They last forever and the supply of parts will be available even if VS doesn't do the work. Too profitable not to sell parts for crazy prices, look at old cars 40yrs old parts still available. I would be concerned about a fake without the serial#s
  10. Capitalism is a wonderful thing
  11. Commercial fishery would not exist if they had no market to sell into. Game fish status does wonders to preserve fish you are trying to protect. Works like a charm in Florida. Ask anyone in FL who doesn't fish if they have tasted a Snook.
  12. Be careful out there in 40 degree water ,If you go over it's likely to be over. Have a buddy with you at least. It's pretty quiet out there this time of yr.
  13. This will never stop. Money, money etc If they can't sell them this will stop.
  14. Being optimistic is a good thing. good luck
  15. Why is everyone whistling in the dark and making believe all is fine. Every year has different recruitment. The real issue is fishing stinks and has been going south for at least 5 yrs. The overall population is way down over many years.. I don't care that some guys fishing fresh bunker in 100 of water catch nice fish, Ask the folks who throw plugs or fly fish how things are doing. The old timers will tell you the last part of the bass reduction had great catches of the last of the breeders. Soon after there were the closures for over 10 yrs. I've seen this act before unfortunately.
