  1. It's thru wired. Doesn't matter if it splits in 2 you still won't lose the fish. I'd fish it til it stops swimming.
  2. It's the wood, could be a bad piece or a type of wood that's not suitable for water.
  3. Paul the Professor makes one. The Hagen bender with the larger insert will also work. I hit mine with a small file just to keep the 1/16 from sticking.
  4. Depends on the lathe. I don't think a Midi sized lathe has the power to maximize a Pro size dup.
  5. Like most other plugs the action defines it not just the shape. Traditional spooks will lay flat and have a much calmer walk the dog action as opposed to a pencil. If you're going to tail weight it you'll have to find a way to offset that so it sits level. Also the line tie below center helps the action.
  6. Use your own judgement. If you're not sure you should do it the LAST thing you want is opinions from the peanut gallery
  7. Mine is 8 years old, turned every plug I've ever on it. I've changed a belt and the switch and added a bed extension.
  8. Same diameter. Tail grommets are usually smaller so they can fit into a tail weight if the plug calls for one. If you're breaking bits it's either the wrong style bit or you're pushing too hard.
  9. Tough to say, neither of those size stocks fit my build profiles. Spindles are much cheaper if they fit your turning dimensions.
  10. The great winter pikie build thread. It got me started and I was lucky enough to get advise from all the OG pikie gurus. I'll find it for ya.

  12. Soothing on cut up, splinter ridden hands
