  1. I live over an hour from the shore. Looking to get my line wet for a few hours over the weekend. What beaches are accessible in SFZ?
  2. I wll be staying in Brewster next week. I am looking to take the family out on a charter for some striper fishing. This will be their first time out on a charter boat. Does anyone have nay suggestions or reccomendations.
  3. Thanks for everyones help. I bought a 95 with 129K miles from the original owner. He took imaculate care of the jeep and had recently tuned up the engine and installed new brakes, exhaust, water pump and tires. The paint is starting to fade a little bit, but there was very little rust underneath. My son will be using it to go to school and work during the week, and I get it on weekends for the beach.
  4. Thanks for letting me know about the head problem. Where would i find the casting number?
  5. I need some help from the Cherokee owners. I am looking at a 2000 Jeep Cherokee tomorrow night. It has around 145K miles on it. Is there anything specific other than the obvious I should look for or check? This will be used by my son during the week to drive to school and work and I get it on the weekends for the beech. - Thanks
  6. The best thing anyone in NJ can do right now is urge state legislators to provide FULL FUNDING for DEP's Division of Fish and Wildlife. The Division is already critically understaffed.Just a quick phone call or email THIS WEEK can make a big difference. You can go to www.njleg.state.nj.us to find out how to contact your senator and assemblymen. Hunting and fishing licenses fees fund 80% of the Division. I think the State can step up with $9.27 million to leverage the $4 billion brought into NJ from wildlife recreation. The park advocates have fought to get their money back into the budget. Let's make sure it doesn't come out of Fish and Wildlife.
  7. Thanks for all the replys. I would only be driving on the beach at ibsp in NJ. From what I hear, the beach is pretty hard as long as you can get to it. I noticed the the outback has about the same clearance as some of the small suvs (Rav4, CRV). Just trying to look at all the options, since it will also be my daily comuter.
  8. I am looking to buy something for the beach, but it will also be a daily commuter. I am looking at some of the suvs (xterra, pathfinder 4runner), but their gas mileage is the pits. I thought of the outback since it has 4 cylinder and decent gas mileage. The ground clearance is not great, but not bad at over 7 inches. Does anybody have any experience with them on the beach? I would be using it on the NJ beaches. Thanks
  9. Thanks for the great links. They were very informative. By the way, when the fish are sleeping at night, do they float or sink?
  10. I am fairly new to fishing the surf. I have spent most my time fishing at ISBP also. Are the man made rock piles/jettys between the manasquan inlet and asbury park worth fishing?
