  1. Lead tape wrapped around reel seat can be used to balance rod and reel. Lead tape with adhesive backing can be found at most golf pro shops.
  2. Hi , Does IBSP allow the use of a camping trailer for day use in their parking lots or while fishing at night? Thanks for the info.
  3. Hi, I use a 15 footer, 12 footer and 12.5 two handed fly rod on my boat frequently. I only have a 16 foot center console and have found many advantages. Ease of casting is certainly one. The length of the rod keeps the line far above the boat and others fishing at the same time. I have caught blues, stripers, and weakfish with the 15 footer on the boat. The only problem I have is storing a rigged 15 foot rod on a 16 foot boat.
  4. It is for a 15 foot 10/11 rod. Rio catalog indicates that the head for a 10/11 rod is 640 grains. Thanks for the info.
  5. Hi Guys, Does anyone have any experience using the RIO Advanced Flight Spey (AFS) for overhead casting on a 2 handed flyrod? Thanks for the input.
  6. Hi Guys, Does anybody know what the Fair Haven boat ramp is like on the Navesink? Is it a free ramp? What size boats can it handle? Thanks!
  7. I have a 16 foot center console. I routinely use a 15 foot, 12.5, and 12 foot 2 hander on my boat and love it. On a small boat the extra length keeps the fly line way above other people fishing as well as parts of the boat. You just can't beat the ease of casting a 2 hander and the increased distance is always a plus.
  8. Hi Guys, I have a bit too much freeplay in my steering. It is basic cable steering to a 90 hp 2 stroke Yamaha. Is there a way too remove some of this freeplay? Thanks for the help.
  9. Hi Guys, What hours are these ramps open for launching? I have a small center console that drafts pretty shallow. What are the costs to launch also? Thanks for the info
  10. Hi Guys, The reason I brought up the question was that there was some discussion on a board related to spey rods and using the skagit lines for overhead. The Rio catalog lists the head length at 27.5 feet but also indicates the need to add a 15 foot sink tip to the skagit head in order to create a total head length of 42.5 feet. These lines were not designed to cast without the sink tip attached to the head. This would be a good length for a 15 foot rod. The other reason that I became interested in these lines was that you could get head weights without the sink tips from 300 to 750 grains.
  11. Hi Guys, Any experience using Skagit lines for overhead casting with a 2 hander? Thanks for the info
  12. Hi, I installed both the large and small pegs. It is a great shooting basket particularly for a 2 handed rod when you are dealing with a lot of running line. I really like mine better than any other basket I have used.
  13. Jim, Thanks for the help. I wound up buying the 12 foot 6 inch 9 wt. I have looked around for 2 handers over 15 feet and their prices can be quite high. I did buy a 15 foot Redington last year which casts very well. I bought it on a close out from Sierra Trading Post. It would be nice if the rod manufactureres would work on a 2 handed surf rod 15 feet plus that would be a bit more economical. There are economical 15 foot spey rods from TFO but surf fishing was not their primary intention. Thanks to all for your help.
  14. Overall, I enjoyed the show. Got to meet Tim Rajeff and see his casting demo. Got to see Ed Jaworski's and Simon Gawesworth casting demos. Unfortunately, with the casting pond so much smaller Simon was really unable to demonstrate much in the line of Spey casts. Bought a new Echo 2 handed rod after talking with Tim Rajeff. Some of the rod manufactures booths did not have their whole line up of rods, and at times I felt that the reps did not know their products very well. Tim knew his products very well and that is what sold me on the Echo rod. Overall, I recommend the show.
  15. Hi Guys, Does anyone have any experience with Echo 2 handed rods in the SCA version for casting overhead with shooting head lines? Any opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
