  1. We got nailed with 37" a week before Christmas in Bradford, NH. took about 10hrs to clear my 2000 ft driveway with my tractor and 60" bucket. We're expecting about 18". Compared to Dec, that's a cakewalk.
  2. My grand Cherokee died a month ago. It was a long prolonged death where one thing after another failed culminating with the head gasket going at 260k miles. I was 100% sure that I was going to go the pickup route. Having 3 kids between 5 and 10 yrs old, I was only looking at crew cabs and having several boats and equipment which I tow, I need a good tow package and V8 (oil cooler, trans cooler PS cooler). I was hoping to possible come across a good diesel if possible. I found quite a few trucks in my price range but they were older than I expected and any diesels were pretty much rust buckets. A neighbor pointed me in the direction of a local gen2 Durango for sale. 5.7 hemi, awd, 4wd high and 4wd low, LSD, full tow package (oil cooler, trans cooler, ps cooler, oversized rad, 3.92 rear, class 4 receiver, 8950lbs tow capacity), 18" wheels with cooper muds, 3rd row seating, rancho shocks all around, excellent mechanically inside and out and with 47k miles. The price was 1/2 that of the cheapest truck I looked at. It was a no brainer and I don't look back. I bought a 5X9 trailer to use if I need to haul anything. Other than that I use the hitch hauler or the roof cargo rack. Just got back from the unmaintained mountain roads of NH and it was a beast.
  3. My parents were born in a small fishing town (Molfetta)on the east coast of southern Italy. As such, it's hard to find anything from the sea that we don't eat. I've eaten them since I was a kid and they are a favorite of mine too. Growing up in an Italian community, I remember being surprised to find later that there wasn't a mainstream market for them. Especially in sea side towns.
  4. I use a a cutoff disk in an angle grinder. like butter.
  5. I'm the product of two distinct grandfathers. One, an old salt WWII navy veteran turned civilian charter boat fisherman. The other, a fisherman from Italy who immigrated to the US and became a longshoreman boss on the docks of Hoboken. Both taught me the soda can method of fishing. I learned that a rod didn't matter, nor the line(only the last few feet really should be actual fishing line, but even this was a luxury if it could be scavenged from the area). More importantly was the use of a lure that you could learn to work as second nature. My grandfather from Italy told me that they only used 3 different lures in his fishing village. If you couldn't make them work then you were doing it wrong. Most important was to remember to pull off 5 or 6 more wraps and flip the can after "casting" to avoid line twist on the next retrieve.

  7. BS. The grouper clearly knew he was being filmed.
  8. This is going to be hard to hear as it was for my parents who are both on blood thinners with significant health issues, but it's probably time to change your routine. Sometimes the risk just isn't worth it. No good piers around or easier(safer) access?
  9. I'm a certified commercial drone pilot and do it for business as well as pleasure. Mostly photogrammetry for construction and AG but also some "artistic" stuff. I fly DJI stuff, matrice, inspire 2, mavic pro 2, phantom 4 and even the little highly capable mavic air. Oddly enough, 95% of my flights are preplanned, hands off, missions which I just launch, monitor and wait for the quadcopter to return. Never used it for fishing though. Here's some of my artsy stuff...
  10. My parents(mid 80's) live in a gated community(55+) in Monroe, NJ. They winter in a community in Naples,FL. They often tell me how I'll have it easy when I inherit their properties and retire. I hunt, I fish and like to live on my land with 10+acres. Fed, state and town already have too many "regulations" for my taste. Closest I'll ever be to residing in a gated community is when I'm 6ft under
  11. here you go... called "Clip On Fishermans Rod Holder" on amazon
  12. I have a KLR 650 and a vstrom 1000 that both see plenty of off road use. I'm finding though that they are beating the hell out of me cause they're too damn heavy. I'm going to keep the strom but trade out the KLR for a DRZ 400. Light, nimble and yet no slouch.
