The top of my pups nose is all chapped and just started to crack and bleed (a little). Doesn't seem bad enough to see the vet quite yet. Any home remedies I should try ?

Whatever it is can't be greasy like vaseline. He stains the wifes white couch and he'll have a lot more to worry about than a chapped nose. (and so would I )

I'd use a little Neosporin, just rub it in good. How have you managed keeping the couch white with the dog around so far?

Maybe it's a white dog?

Nope, he's a smart dog. Like the rest of the men in the family we all live in fear of the white couch

Get some Vitamin E capsules at the supermarket. Break them open and rub the fluid into the nose like a lotion. Do that about 2x a day....keep doing it until you see some improvement...it may take a while.

I second the Bag Balm and the Vit E. http://www.jefferspe...DU13&pf_id=1417

You can also feed the Vit. E to your dog. I give mine Vit. E and Fish Oil capsules in their food on a regular basis. Just make sure it's not cod liver oil. Too much of that stuff will overdose your dog with Vit. A.

So it turns out that the nearest place to buy Bag Balm is the nearby Harmons Cosmetics store

Question for the ladies -
What exactly do you do with this stuff? Photos would be appreciated

5th or 6th for Bag Balm. Also works like Chapstick to prevent it from happening. Only catch is they like to lick it off--bring it with you if your going to be out for awhile and reapply.

What kind of bowl are you feeding the dog food in? Sounds like a Stainless bowl. If thats the cast cease at once and change to another bowl. Some dogs noses are irritated by Stainless food bowls. They act like sandpaper on the dogs nose.
