Police are investigating a deadly shooting early Friday morning on the Schuylkill Expressway in South Philadelphia that has left a member of the Hell's Angels motorcycle club dead.
It could be an escalating war between rival gangs, says police inspector Bill Colarulo:
"The victim did appear to be dressed in colors that are identifiable to the Hell's Angels Motorcycle group."
Colarulo says the driver of a pickup was gunned down while he was behind the wheel westbound on the Schuylkill Expressway at about 1:40am Friday morning:
"The truck was riddled with gunfire, and the individual did succumb to his injuries."
The pickup crashed into a fence on Vare Avenue. A man on a Harley stopped to give CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead a short time later at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
The westbound expressway was shut down in the vicinity of the shooting for several hours.
Police are concerned about the prospect of retaliation, given the long-running war between the Hell's Angels and the Pagans motorcycle groups.
Police have no suspects.

A turf war is going on. A couple years ago they had a minor blood bath up in New York and it's been percolating ever since.
on the good side of the grass.....

It's always best to avoid certain people, places and things. Some things it's best to have no opinion on. Sometimes especially in mixed company it is wise to not even mention names of places or organizations. It has been my experience that it's just not worth the trouble.
