Comments: Hardy Zephrus DH 13'6" 8/9wt Rod

4 posts in this topic

Picked up a brand new TH Hardy rod this evening.

Very fortunate to have won this new rod in a raffle and since I've only had time to put it together and give it a shake or two wondering if anyone on the forum has had an experience with the Hardy Zephrus line of rods, Two Handers in particular,  and willing to offer opinions or share there experiences, pro or con.        I've got a busy schedule coming up and probably won't be able to put a line on this in the very near future so wondering what line one might recommend considering I, (or my son), would probably use this overhand casting for stripers.   I have a few salt ponds and estuary / rivers in mind in southern RI where I might first give it a go.

The particulars:

Hardy Zephrus DH 13'6" 8/9wt Rod
Length: 13'6" ft
Line: 8/9 wt
Sections: 4
Action: Fast
Weight: 7.70oz
Handle: TPSF

This is the most I could find online about these rods:

At least you have handled it. 8/9  suggest you try a SH Line first .

start at 450and keep on moving up until you hit the sweet spot.

All you need to know is what it will cast. Dare I say it the only opinion that is going to count will be yours.

Enjoy.
