"The defeats have all but wiped out a generation of young Democrats, leaving the party with limited power in statehouses and a thin bench to challenge an ascendant GOP majority eager to undo many of the president’s policies," according to a Dec. 24, 2016 Associated Press article.""

My take is that BHO was a disruptive event.  He altered the natural order, namely, HRC, thus causing a Red Wave of historic proportions.

Following a disruption, the new pioneer species will exploit the newly available resources.

However, instead of a new young generation of HRC supporters and BHO supprters, the field was ripe for the taking...

Since the D party as been marginalized, a new invasive has had the opportunity to take hold.  The DemocratSocialist (ie NeoCommie).

Bernie and otavio-cortez are Kudzu.

"After the election of Obama, there was much talk of a new era -- that a coalition of young, minority and female voters would usher in gains for the Democrats for decades.

That did not happen."

yes - likewise the cheney "republican dynasty" never happened.

lets be objective on this - there is an OH special election on Tuesday - Romney carried it by 9, trump by 11. its currently a virtual tie.

last night the trump candidate lost her primary in the TN governors race.

earlier this week President Obama endorsed 81 candidates.

the dems are not energized by any one candidate or one issue, with the president attacking President Obama, immigrants, the media, our military and trade allies etc they don't have to be.

his unfavorability rating is at 54% for a reason. he is out of touch with the majority of ordinary Americans.

November should be humbling for him, but like the losses earlier this year he will blame the candidates.

It's nice to see that your cut and paste feature works. I hope you realise the N.Y. Times, Washington Post and Huffington are absolutely meaning less here,  as is Fox.

they should be. it would help you guys see outside the bubble.

and the OP's post was myopic - " I don't see" means nothing to anyone. the 2018 election results to date prove the error in his ramblings.

Good point.  Honestly, good point. I am not agreeing, but it is important to consider this.

It is precisely what the entire MSM and left leaning LibProg world failed to do, which ushered in the Trump era.

You imply sound advice.  Stay in touch with the majority of Americans, however silent they may (or may have) bee/en.

It wasnt very long ago that he effectively endorsed 900+  Republican candidates.

bazinga !

but he is still terrifically popular with Americans. his endorsement means a lot.

this November is going to be a yin to the yang.

the establishment GOP is going to be cornered I think by the reaction - go with trump or openly dissent.

Mark the post.  I thnk that November will be a slight shift Blue (as expected in midterms) and the shift will be overblown by MSM and the LIbProg talking heads as a groundswell against DJT.

WRT to Trump specifically, its moot.  It isnt that so many like him per se, its that so many dislike you (the collective LibProg 'you', not 'you' specifically.)

the MSM and libprogs don't dominate the Dem base as much as you might think - they might shout the loudest tho.

this will be a correction to an oversteer. they will take the senate and go close in the House.
