Rabbit Eared Lido

I just picked this up. It's in 'rough shape', but I didn't have one. A Lido from the late 1940's.  The 'rabbit ears' are to mimic the fins on a whiting. B

How can that possibly cast more than a few feet? Looks like the "ears" would cause it to slam into the water a short distance out. Reminds me of a Heddon Crazy Crawler without the "folding" ears/wings

The whiting came right into the wash.
