As hot as it gets here at times you do get used to it. You learn to just move slower, at work you purposely have to move slower. You’ll not be jogging at noon or bike riding at noon. You get an early start to everything you do.

Past Fri and tomorrow I’m on a job outside all day; boots, hardhat, long pants and in a ditch. You take breaks, drink a lot of water and hit the AC something or other when you can.

The first year was an adjustment. That took time. It’s certianly gotten better.

"You get an early start to everything you do" pretty much sums it up in the simplest terms.  You just can't fight the afternoon heat in July and August.

To give a northern analogy, you wouldn't consider outdoor activities at 6 AM when wind chills are below zero.  In a weird way summer down here is similar to a northeast winter.

Florida doesn't get as hot as most people think but there is more to the equation than just temperature.

The reason the temp is moderated there is because it's surrounded by water on three sides. Believe it or not but GA or SC can be hotter because it only has water on one side.

Nevertheless, that doesn't mean the summer there is nice. 90 in FL is not the same as 90 in New England. The sun is stronger there due to the curvature of the earth.

FL consistently has heat this time of year. Up here, we get a heat wave and then it's back in the low 80s.

The other variable is that it's their rainy season during the summer which means thunder/lightening. Also lots of bugs..................

Spring and fall are the best. Winter can be really nice too depending on how far north in the state you are and the particular year. I wouldn't want to be there for the whole summer just like I'm not going to spend another winter up north.
