Woman in Saugus Tree'd By Pack Of Coyotes

32 posts in this topic

NECN is reporting that a lady was walking or running with her dog on the Breakheart Reservation's Ridge Trail when they were approached by the pack of 'yotes this past weekend.   Fortunately for her. she was able to climb a nearby tree for safety and call for help.   Fire Fighters escorted her to her car but alas the dog is gone.  Bummer (zero sarcasm here)!

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up if you know anyone who frequents this area and the possible behavior of these four legged predators who live among-st us.

Fortunately she's ok. Sad her dog didn't survive.

I've seen lone coyotes on the roads around the Chu. I've even heard them howling when hiking out at dark. I'm surprised I haven't run into some on the trails during low-light times. Especially with all the deer in there.

Last fall I had one sitting on my front porch waiting for me to return from a Canal outing .

I worry more about running into a skunk than coyotes.

I would fight to the death to save my dog from a pack of coyotes, this is why dogs are MAN’S best friend...

Uncontrolled domestic dogs are more of a problem than any wild animal.

Not even close.

"Eventually the coyotes ran away and the woman and her dog were able to walk out unharmed but definitely shaken."(WBZ Boston)

The local news is claiming a better outcome for the dog, either way not a good scene. Maybe time to open a trapping season for coyotes in MA?
