it seems May is not weak at the knees with respect to denouncing Putin and standing up to him,

good for her,

good for england,

good for freedom.

she expelled 23 diplomats - was there more?

A willingness to state clearly that Putin was behind it,

and that it would not be tolerated.....

sadly we have a POTUS that might not even back her in this.

odds are good he defends Putin and demands thorough investigations before denying the conclusions and refusing to act.

This was an egregious act, but it makes sense that England takes the lead as it happened on their soil. I do hope that we have their back though.

IMHO Trump's lack of a spine regarding Russia has emboldened Putin.

".....Amid shifting US statements, Mr Trump further muddied the waters on Tuesday by initially saying he would “condemn Russia or whoever it may be” once the facts become clear.

However after a call with Mrs May, the White House issued its strongest statement yet on the poisoning, including a direct challenge to Russia.

“President Trump stated the United States stands in solidarity with its closest ally and is ready to provide any assistance the United Kingdom requests for its investigation,” a White House spokesman said of the call.

“President Trump agreed with Prime Minister May that the Government of the Russian Federation must provide unambiguous answers regarding how this chemical weapon, developed in Russia, came to be used in the United Kingdom.

“The two leaders agreed on the need for consequences for those who use these heinous weapons in flagrant violation of international norms.”

They have had 2 Kremlin-ordered murders on their soil. They better be vigilant.

it's hard to say what is worse,

killing two double agents on foreign soil,

or influencing the outcome of a national election.

after 2016 I think WE need to be vigilant,

yet here we are twiddling our thumbs and denying what our intelligence agencies have concluded and refusing to act to either

1. punish past interference

or

2. take steps to prevent it from happening again.

but I stand by the premise of this thread,

I am pleased to see that not ALL leaders are cowed by Putin.

Why should they not assume such a position?  It happened on their sovereign soil.  Blaming Trump is #*****
