Herring Run Fishing

46 posts in this topic

It seems like fishing around high tide at sunset works for a lot of people on here. My question is what water temp are you seeing herring show up it river systems? I live close to CT river which has a decent herring run but I trying to learn more about when I can expect them to show up.

Stripers should be Chasing Shad up the CT River . I live 2 minutes from the holyoke dam where the shad lift is . I don't see anyone fishing yet because the river is so high .

Scouted out seekonk river today.  Water flow was chocolate and heavy.  No positive ID, but cormorants were grouped up and osprey went home with dinner.  Couldn't say for sure what dinner was

Did well last year with a 9" spook when they wouldn't touch anything else.

Ugh, was there and didn’t even make a cast because I thought the ocean was too shallow where it dumps out to. Thanks for teaching me to not judge a place without making some casts and taking a closer look.
