Whazza problem? Heat wave coming next wed-thurs. :p

Yeah cape ice has been pretty limited the last cpl of years. Looks at least the upper cape has a good chance of producing some widespread safe ice this winter.

May even get sea ice floes in canal if this keeps up.

Poked a hole in the grove lake in Holbrook today, it was 5”. Plan to go out this weekend on the South Shore. How many yards of line are you guys putting on your tip ups?

Thanks

Its a matter of personal preference. Most of mine are well under 100 yds. For most fish i get thru the ice even that is overkill. The only exception id make is pike and i dont frequent those ponds anymore.

Just make sure those leaders are strong espec if there are big pick around.

I expect to be out on the ice in Central MA this coming week, plenty of safe ice (will still be using the pick). I look forward to doing some serious jigging!

Checked my local reservoir.  3.5" near shore, 5" of nice black ice further out with a bit of bubble ice on top.

I'll be fishing tomorrow, but might let it warm up to double digits before starting.

Supposed to be 10 degrees by 8:00am.

Great day tbyrd, I’ve been on safe ice in Gardner, Natick, Framingham, And Wayland in the last ten days. Mostly rainbows and pickerel.  I usually fish a mix of trout and bass rigs.   It’s shaping up to be a looong ice season.

Got out on a small cape pond this morning. 5in of ice. Shiners did the trick for a few pickerel but were to big for the perch.
