tnetherc
Anyone have any info on whether stripers will go after harbor pollock or not? Thanks
Crabba
I've always been told they are great live lining. Can usually catch them when other bait isnt present too. Rig em up with a balloon. I'm gonna try more of this next year to get me to other spots and when macs and herring r slow
bob_G
They do, but not as aggressively as mackerel or pogies. The other thing is Pollock are very soft and hard to keep on the hook. The Sultan of Sluggo
john1234
I've had success live lining them off deer island.....if you're in a small boat with limited Iivewell capabilities like myself they stay alive a lot longer in a 5 gallon bucket with 2 airpumps that macs do for sure
Beachorbust
Are harbor pollock subject to the same regs as offshore? I can't recall but this summer it was 17 or 19". Asking for a friend who may or may not have had a couple for breakfast yesterday.
ThunnusBlue
Offshore pollock have to be 19". Inshore, no limit on size or take. Harbor pollock are terrible baits. They are weak and die easily. However, I've caught many bass using them when I was younger and couldn't get bait. Go find the macs, they are everywhere. albacized
All I can tell you is that back in June, I was catching small (12") harbor pollack on the fly rod and had some nice bass come up and 'nose' the pollack...but they didn't aggressively commit (which was fine, since I was using a 7 weight fly rod in some rugged environment)
