Another custom rod built

6 posts in this topic

Just built another custom rod. Used metallic wrap for the guides, size D, prowrap. I hear many people say that metallic should only be used for decoration. I would have to disagree with them. I find them as strong as non-metallic wraps. Anyone else used metallic wrap for guides. Either way I don't plan to change the wrap, just wondering what experience others have.

the color will fade in time when used as a basic wrap , it will fade

even as a trim wrap but when it is the basic wrap it is like a sore thumb, stands out just like it

Metallic thread is actually slightly stronger than equivalent dia. non-metalic. It works just as well as regular nylon, and can add a dimension to the decorative aspect of your rod-building.
