If my memory is correct the std. Cg 4 had sensor-core shafts by true temper, around 95 grams per steel shaft. The cg 16 tour had steel dynamic gold, Closer to 120 - 125 grams for stiff.

My guess is you are hitting them straighter due the extra weight and low torque down low. The lighter steel occasional would be longer 6-10 yards, but a slower tempo and swing speed may be required for accuracy.

Your mileage may vary....

I agree with the less torque down low - I swing way harder than I should...since some of my shots with the older irons would go perfectly, straight, high and long - I figured when they were going a little left or right, but still high and long it was my fault. I still make plenty of bad swings, but with these stiffer/heavier shafts, when I make a good swing the ball goes exactly where I'm aiming....unfortunately it can still go anywhere on the bad swings :freak:

I knew this was about the M1, Lol.  heard good things about it.  and who cares if a company comes out with new stuff ??  doesn't mean the other stuff is no good.  iPhish, Is the M1 a low spin head ?  What are the characteristics ??  And can you get a deal on one haha...

I agree....I was looking for an old set of CG4 tour irons because I was comfortable with them and hate change :o

M1 and M2 are both one of the lowest spin drivers you can buy. Due to the low and forward Center of gravity. If you are a tinkered the m1 you can personalize the driver head to match the characteristics of your ball flight. Left, straight and right, the rear track can change 350 rpms of spin, read a little higher or lower launch and flatter apex. The M2 is easier to get airborne and what I feel is a softer sound and better feel off the face. I played the M1 all last week, 4x and this week I put the m2 head on. BOTH have 30 different shaft offerings with no upcharge $$$

Deal? Nope, the M series the hottest selling driver right now. M2 $399 & M1 $499

M2 sell 6 to 1 over the M1 people like it. There are pros also using it.

Nike golf will be longer selling, marketing or innovating clubs and balls.

They are effectively out of the golf equipment business except for apparel and footwear.

I'm surprised they stayed this long.....

NIKE, Inc. announced today that it will accelerate innovation in its Golf footwear and apparel business and will partner with more of the world’s best golfers. With this new focus, Nike Golf will transition out of equipment — including clubs, balls and bags. http://news.nike.com/news/nike-focuses-golf-innovation-on-footwear-and-apparel-transitions-out-of-equipment

Was any of their equipment any good?  Hit a couple balls with one of the drivers and wasn't impressed.  The golf balls are ok. :headscratch:

bridgestone was manufacturing the ball for them. The clubs you'll always find someone who says they liked them, but lets face it if you had a choice of a brand new driver do you buy one with a footwear manufacturers logo staring you in the face or a ping, titleist, taylormade, callaway...that only makes golf equipment? I believe the answer is fairly obvious.

Tiger didn't help sales, except for NBC and CBS

Last year, ending May 31st their net sales were 706 million, almost 85% of it was in apparel. The out look is bleak for golf manufacturers  in general. Nike apparel business is also about to take a hit with the popularity of UA, particularly in teenagers and young adults males

I've got Nike hybrids. Mainly because a tournament I play every year gives me $300 in credit to spend at their Nike "traveling store" they set up at the course. So over a few years I ended up with a 3,4,5. Couldn't bring myself to try their driver, and it was overpriced anyway. Would've had to add a couple hundred of my own $$.

They've had a Taylor Made "store" in the past. Hopefully they'll go back to them.

I'll have mine on the rocks.

Sounds like a decent size tourney....well you won't see Nike thats for sure. Hundreds have been laid off on the golf side- for good.

The Adidas/TM & Titleist  manufacturers will have mobile proshops for special tournaments, but not just any tourney. Most want to sell/move around a minimum of 50-K of apparel and hardgoods, with a bare minimum of shipping anything back

Not just any tournament. 4 courses, 3 states, 2 days. This years raised 1.8 million for kids charities.

I'm sure the 50K X 4 courses is no problem.

I'll have mine on the rocks.
